Salary: The salary will be in the region of £40,000 per annum (pro rata) dependent on qualifications and experience.

Job Type: Full Time, Temporary. Normal hours are 37.5 hours per week

The Role:

This full-time, temporary position is available from November 2024 for approximately one year, to cover a maternity leave. The Human Resources Manager will report to the Director of Finance and Operations and Head of Foundation. They will provide expert professional advice and support to managers and staff on all aspects of Human Resources including recruitment, employee relations and people management that complies with employment legislation and best practice. The Human Resources Manager will be required to manage and communicate complex, sensitive and highly confidential information in a professional manner.

The successful candidate will be fully conversant and up-to-date with all aspects of employment law and HR best practice; have experience in developing and implementing employment policies; be able to manage recruitment interviews and assessments; be proficient with Microsoft Office applications and email; be able to communicate effectively with staff and advisers and be a positive and helpful member of the school support team.

The successful applicant will be an experienced HR professional and ideally hold a relevant formal qualification, such as Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. Evidence of continuing professional development will be expected. They should be in sympathy with the aims of the school and as part of the school community take general responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons.

The Human Resources Manager main responsibilities will include:

  • To advise the Head of Foundation and Senior Management Team (SMT) on all matters relating to Human Resources and act as a 'sounding board' for senior members of staff;
  • To ensure compliance with current employment legislation and keep up-to-date with changes and developments;
  • To provide advice, guidance and support to teaching and support staff;
  • To update policies and procedures for approval by SMT, with a view to fairness and consistency;
  • To be a point of contact for legal advisers dealing with any related cases, preparing all related administration up to tribunal level;
  • Production of annual statistics;
  • Developing the strategic priorities for the department
  • To undertake staff checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service;
  • To undertake right to work in UK and visa checks;
  • To oversee all staff documentation required for employment, pay, pensions and life assurance;
  • To maintain personnel files on all staff in accordance with the Data Protection Act and DBS guidelines;

Salary & Conditions:

The salary will be in the region of £40,000 per annum (pro rata) dependent on qualifications and experience. Normal hours are 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility regarding some evening and occasional weekend work will be expected. The school is prepared to consider up to an additional four weeks unpaid holiday outside of term time for the right candidate, which can be discussed at interview.

Holiday entitlement is 18 days plus 4 Christmas shutdown days plus the Bank Holidays per annum.A contributory pension scheme including life assurance is also available.
