The National Management Centre (NMC) is part of Police Digital Service and provides visibility and control of information risks for policing. It supports the 24x7x365 nature of police operations, providing a threat detection and response capability for digital services before, during and after cyber-attacks, enabling stakeholders to understand and proactively manage risk across the technology estate at both the national and force level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the NMC Cyber Liaison Manager to set strategy and NMC Cyber Liaison Team work ethic.
  • Designated support and deputy for the NMC Cyber Liaison Manager.
  • Operational coordination and point of contact of the NMC Cyber Liaison Team.
  • Ensuring the demands of the NMC Cyber Liaison Team are adequately resourced to meet day-to-day team objectives.
  • Monitor quality of outputs from the NMC Cyber Liaison Team in support of NMC Cyber Liaison Manager.
  • Effective representation of the NMC Cyber Liaison Team at internal and external engagements, including briefings to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Providing thought leadership to support the NMC Cyber Liaison Manager in the continuous improvement of the NMC Cyber Liaison Team.
  • Ensuring stakeholders have a clear understanding of NMC services, including how to interact with NMC services to achieve the best value.
  • Ensuring all stakeholder feedback, challenges or opportunities are accurately captured and escalated in a timely manner to the NMC Cyber Liaison Manager, to enable continuous service improvement.
  • In support of the NMC Cyber Liaison Manager, coach and support the Cyber Liaison Team to grow knowledge and skills.

What you need to succeed in the role

Essential

  • Excellent leader with a proven track record of working in a high performing, well-motivated team.
  • Strong communicator – written, verbal and listening skills with attention to detail when recording activity and decision making.
  • Relishes responsibility and working on own initiative with the ability to produce high quality work without close supervision.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to focus, multi-task and effectively manage own workload.
  • Highly skilled negotiating and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of different audiences and situations, with ability to empathise and appropriately adapt communication style to suit.
  • Approachable attitude and comfortable meeting new people, building rapport and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation to further own knowledge and learn new skills.
  • Personal resilience and embraces positive change in a complex and rapidly evolving cyber environment.
  • A genuine passion for maintaining high quality support to our stakeholders.
  • Experience of customer facing roles, and knowledge of the business drivers to help operational teams deliver relevant, effective, efficient, and quality service to stakeholders.
  • Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPVV3) and Security Check (SC Clearance) will be required for the role and must be maintained during tenure.
  • Will require a full, valid driving license and use of a vehicle to undertake business travel where appropriate. This must be maintained in a roadworthy condition and insured for business purposes. Mileage rates in accordance with HMRC will be reimbursed.

Desirable

  • Broad cyber security awareness.
  • Practical experience and understanding of operational cyber security environments.

At the NMC, you will benefit from hybrid working, getting the advantages of both face-to-face team engagement and home working. NMC employees have the opportunity to work in our modern office environment for in-person collaboration, however you will also get the opportunity to work from home 2 days a week.

All applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been approved before starting with PDS.
