Job Description:

To manage the Travelling Communities Outreach Services in B&NES and Wiltshire and the Wiltshire GRT Domestic Abuse Service, ensuring performance KPI objectives, quality standards and contractual obligations are met through effective management of Travelling Communities teams, reflecting the values of Julian House. Maintain a visible and active presence within Travelling Communities teams. Ensure service improvements are embedded within Travelling Communities services.

Responsible for Travelling Communities services, supporting all clients to reach their maximum potential. To be an effective member of the Operational Team at Julian House. Uphold the values of Julian House

Location: Wiltshire (one day per week based at Rosewell Court Bath office, the remainder of the time in Wiltshire at either our Chippenham or Devizes)

Contract: Permanent - Part-time

Work hours: 30 hours a week

Salary: £23,000 per annum

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage teams, responsible for effective delivery of client-led practices that deliver positive outcomes.
  • Provide operational management, staff line management of Travelling Communities project teams, including setting of targets, monitoring, and addressing any performance issues.
  • Provide supportive line management and supervision to team members, ensuring regular reviews are in place, including monthly supervisions, PDRs and any other reviews as appropriate.
  • Build effective and motivated staff teams, promoting a positive culture focused on learning and achieving best practice in project delivery.
  • Manage Travelling Communities staff teams to provide expert support to clients, encouraging clients to co-produce support plans.
  • Lead the effective recruitment, induction, support and ongoing development of staff.
  • Ensure regular team meetings are held and staff are consulted on project developments and wider Julian House priorities. Ensure projects meet statutory/legal and organisational quality standards.
  • Contribute fully as a member of the Operations Management Team to achieve team/organisation objectives and standards, promoting effective communication and teamwork. Maintain team performance to agreed internal KPIs and external contracted targets.
  • Manage service-related incidents and safeguarding, ensuring action is taken, communicated, followed up and recorded, in accordance with Julian House policies and procedures.
  • Work with finance to manage service income and expenditure, adhering to the annual budget for service projects set by Finance.
  • Ensure appropriate health, safety and compliance actions are met by service teams. Liaise closely with Health, Safety and Facilities Team in the delivery of these. Embed and support the use of volunteers in Travelling Communities projects. Liaise with local authorities/higher education providers and HR to arrange work placements

Essential

  • Management skills: ability to implement the direction set within projects. Motivate service teams to implement bold and creative projects.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and projects, resulting in high quality client service. Ability to communicate, influence and network with colleagues and with external agencies at appropriate levels.
  • Relevant experience at managerial level within the sector Highly organised and a completer-finisher. Ability to effectively manage own and supervise direct reports' workload.
  • Proven experience of managing complex projects e.g., outreach or accommodation-based support services which deliver positive outcomes.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Proven experience of managing teams through change and implementing a culture of excellence, teamwork, and high performance. Track record in implementing service improvements and innovation within projects. Experience of managing budgets and achieving VFM within projects.
  • A proven knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity and bringing these into everyday practice within projects.
  • A proven knowledge and understanding of the care and support requirements of people experiencing social exclusion. Understanding of impact of social exclusion and inequalities
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of the specific challenges facing Travelling Communities. Excellent level of cultural awareness of a full range of Travelling Communities.
  • Ability to travel: Driving Licence and access to vehicle with business use insurance cover. Willingness to travel anywhere in B&NES, Wiltshire and other areas as required to fulfil the requirements of the role
