Private Client Paralegal

Up to £30k

Canterbury (CT1) and office-based.

Our client, a law firm in Canterbury, is currently recruiting for a Paralegal to join their Private Client department. While prior experience in private client work is advantageous, it is not essential. Additionally, there is a high possibility that you may be considered for a training contract.

They are seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join their Private Client team and provide invaluable support in delivering high-quality legal services. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to assist with wills, probate, trusts, and estate planning within a supportive and dynamic environment.

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for clients, gathering necessary information and keeping them updated on case progress. You will also schedule and attend client meetings, take detailed notes, and ensure follow-up actions are completed promptly.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and preparing legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and probate applications, ensuring all documents meet legal standards.
  • Managing and organizing client files, conducting legal research to support case preparation and client advice.
  • Assisting in the administration of estates, from valuing assets to preparing estate accounts and liaising with beneficiaries. This includes preparing applications for grants of probate and letters of administration, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal regulations and firm policies, particularly regarding confidentiality and data protection.
  • Providing general administrative support to the Private Client team, including photocopying, scanning, and filing documents. You will also assist with billing and time recording activities, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

To be successful in this role, you should have a degree in law or an equivalent qualification, such as the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Previous experience in a private client department is essential, particularly in advising and drafting wills, LPAs, and administering low-value probates.

This office-based role offers working hours from 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The firm provides on-the-job training to develop your expertise in private client law, and there is potential for career progression within the firm.

If you are a skilled and proactive Paralegal looking for an exciting opportunity in a dynamic environment, we would love to hear from you. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, contact Jemma Sutton for a confidential discussion.
