Reed are partnering with a Membership Body based in the City who are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Finance to join their team in London. This role is pivotal in ensuring transparent operational accounting and contributing to the strategic direction of our organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Senior Leadership Team to ensure transparent operational accounting.
  • Manage the monthly Accounts, Charitable Trust accounts, and the Defined Benefits Pension Scheme accounts.
  • Produce and review management accounts, investigate variances, and take remedial actions.
  • Work with all departments and the management team to develop budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Oversee the ongoing control and reporting of the Balance Sheet, including completing Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction by producing accurate management accounts, formulating/managing accounting policies, and developing monthly Board reporting.
  • Work closely with the company's auditors to ensure a timely and efficient annual audit for all relevant companies.
  • Liaise with budget holders and auditors.
  • Deputise for the Director of Finance in the general running of the finance team.

Qualifications

  • Relevant financial qualification (CCAB) or equivalent.

Skills Required

  • Experience for working for an SME Charity and/or Membership Body
  • Technical experience and strength in all aspects of Management Accounting.
  • Friendly and approachable with highly effective communication skills.
  • An effective and willing team member.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with both financial and non-financial personnel.
  • Working knowledge of at least one well-known accounting package, ideally Microsoft Business Central.
  • Proven skills in planning and delivering a complicated budgetary process with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent time management, able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office with extensive knowledge of Excel.
  • Excellent decision-maker, able to strategize and manage risk.
  • Commercially minded with ideally membership sector experience.
