The role - Senior Quantity Surveyor

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be based out of the office in Warrington and will be working on a £50m student accommodation block in the centre of Manchester. You will be responsible for the external facades, reporting into the Commercial Manager overseeing the project.

You will be responsible for all commercial duties and be the point of contact for junior staff as well as handling the following duties:

  • Preparation of bills and/or schedules for quantities of materials, labour and services required in the construction and refurbishment of building works in relation to both Estimating and Post contract duties.
  • Cost reporting.
  • Preparation and valuation of progress and submission to client.
  • Sub-contract procurement including sending out enquiries, collating prices, negotiation, order placement.
  • Sub-contract valuations and payments in connection with any contract.
  • Maximise cash flow through timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment.
  • Manage prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts, including variations, claims and disputes.
  • Identify, manage, reduce, and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
  • Monitor and manage subcontract costs to ensure that the project meets and/or exceeds targets.
  • Monitor resources and costs to ensure that the project meets and / or exceeds targets, including but not limited to the scheduling of labour resources.

Required skills and knowledge:

A degree/equivalent qualification (HNC/HND).
At least 5 years experience in a Project/Senior QS position.
Have a strong background in external facades.
