Junior Electrical Engineer

Our client, a company that possesses the expertise to design, supply, implement, and support complete infrastructural solutions for data centres and critical facilities, is currently looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Farnborough on a permanent basis.

Job Summary:

The Junior Electrical Engineer will assist the Senior Projects Manager in a variety of tasks to develop a thorough understanding of design, specification, BMS/PMS installations, equipment setup, testing, site commissioning, and client demonstrations. This role includes attending various training courses focused on automation, including Power Monitoring Expert, Digital Power Academy (Schneider), and Ignition SCADA Software (Inductive Automation).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn the technical requirements for BMS/PMS installations.
  • Gain an understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Familiarise with Ignition SCADA software, its operational logic, and basic changes using Ignition Designer tool.
  • Understand the basics of Ignition Platform, including the use of tags, designer clients, and drivers to connect devices and databases.
  • Learn the basic principles of testing and commissioning, and be able to demonstrate a BMS/PMS system to clients.
  • Follow all health and safety rules provided onsite and any instructions from supervisors.
  • Provide assistance to engineers during special assignments.
  • Attend all training courses directed by the Senior Project Manager, particularly those focused on automation and control.
  • Achieve objectives measured against KPIs to progress within the company to more complex and advanced positions.

Job Requirements:

  • Understanding of SCADA systems and electrical engineering principles.
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn Ignition SCADA software.
  • Keen interest in developing technical skills related to BMS/PMS installations.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to following health and safety guidelines.
  • Relevant engineering qualification or technical training is preferred.
