CNC Machinist

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our clients team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and proving out components for manufacture on high/low volume CNC machines, ensuring the highest quality standards are met by following set operating instructions and technical drawings.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Produce components ranging from one-offs to large batches to a high and precise specification and accuracy.
  • Program and set CNC machinery and order appropriate tooling required to complete scheduled jobs.
  • Make tools and fixtures as needed for any large volume components.
  • Conduct general machine maintenance.
  • Perform self-first off and final inspection of manufactured components, including those made by other staff.
  • Operate manual machines as required by job urgency.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the machine shop.
  • Sort and store ordered materials in the correct location.
  • Create change request forms for any alterations or additions to components being made.
  • Repair any damaged or ill-fitting components from other departments.
  • Engage in general bench fitting activities.
  • Clean out and strip down machines after use.
  • Assemble and pack finished components.
  • Prepare components for welding, plating, or painting.
  • Assist with the delivery of raw material to the stores.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as required by the line manager.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and cooperate with the employer to fulfill their duty.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experienced knowledge of Sliding Head & CNC lathes, programming & setting (both Fanuc).
  • Ability to understand and follow technical drawings.
  • Good time management with the ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of dimensional measurement and control.
  • Good knowledge of different types and grades of raw materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
