Band 6 Midwife

We are looking to recruit experienced and enthusiastic Band 6 midwives to join the Elective Caesarean Section Team, dedicated to holistically supporting a woman's journey during the elective caesarean section process. The trust is one of the largest in London, providing maternity care with a multi-professional and dynamic team working together to provide the best care for women and their families.

Description:

This clinical role involves caring for women pre-operatively, in theatre, and providing post-operative care. The Elective Team ensures the smooth running of the elective list Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts. Responsibilities include pre-operative assessments, education, appropriate blood tests, post-operative recovery, enhanced recovery, breastfeeding support, wound care, and management. The role requires working as part of the MDT, making referrals, and escalating issues as needed.

You will be supported by practice leaders, PMAs, and the PDM team to build on your skills and confidence as you progress in your midwifery career.

This role requires day shifts.

Requirements:

  • Valid NMC registration as a midwife.
  • Proven experience in midwifery practice.
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team, contributing to collaborative efforts and supporting team members.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, ensuring clarity and understanding in both written and oral forms.
  • Empathetic engagement with clients about treatments and procedures, ensuring they feel understood and supported.
  • Enthusiastic, approachable, and friendly demeanor, fostering a positive environment.
  • Understanding of own Knowledge and Skills Framework, identifying learning needs, and actively participating in learning activities, keeping detailed records.
  • Ability to work within set timeframes, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines while monitoring the quality of work.
  • Proficiency in using all midwifery skills in various settings, participating in health promotion activities, accurately recording patient assessments, and performing essential midwifery procedures, including handling obstetric emergencies.
