Hourly Lifestyle / Care Assistant to third year Product Design Uni Student

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a young male, who is looking for two like-minded PAs to provide his personal care and independent living support. This is a great opportunity to make a positive impact on a young adult's life.
Start Date: September 2024
Location: Nottingham
Hours: 36-48 Hours per Week
Hourly shift pattern: Days and Night Shifts
Pay: £15.00 per hour
Holidays: 5.6 weeks' holiday pro rata
About our client
Our client is a Third Year University student, who is studying Product Design at Nottingham Trent University. He lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which affects every muscle in his body. He is an avid Nottingham Forest and Manchester United Fan, and enjoys Formula 1. He also enjoys going out to the Cinema, the Theatre and to restaurants.
About you
Our ideal candidate has a great sense of humour, loves football and enjoys going to matches. You are understanding, patient, able to both follow directions and work off your own initiative, and have good written and spoken English. You must be able to keep yourself busy when you are not needed, but close by and reachable by text/phone call. No experience needed as full training will be given.

"Hi, I'm Toby, I have a genetic condition called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which affects every muscle in my body and therefore, my ability to walk. But I won't let this stop me! I am currently studying Product Design at Nottingham Trent University. However, due to my condition I will need a group of full-time personal assistants to help me with personal care and accessing my education.
At university, I want to be as independent as possible and for this to happen, I will need someone who is willing to be part of a team of personal assistants for me. Don't worry, it won't feel like you work for me but it will be like we are mates. This will enable me to study the subject that I love and live away from home for the duration of my studies. I live in the City of Nottingham in a home of my own. I live with a couple of my mates, and there is a room for my PA. I want to make university a fun period of my life so I am looking for someone who has a good sense of humour. You must be understanding and patient, and work on initiative as well as respecting my privacy."

You will provide our client's academic support and health and social care.

A Clean Automatic Driving Licence is required for this position, as you will be required to drive the client's automatic vehicle.
This is role goes far beyond simply care work, and includes all the fun things you'd expect a second-year university student to be doing, like getting out and socialising, whether that be cinema, going out for meals or other general activities!
Duties will include
- Personal Care - Bathing, Dressing, Grooming, Toileting
- Health Care - Administrating medicine, using medical equipment
- Social Support
- Travel assistance
- Daily Living - Cooking, Shopping
- Housekeeping / Domestic duties
- Driving the client's adapted automatic vehicle
