About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 dependant upon experience + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

You will support the Head of Commissioning across a portfolio of Onshore Wind, Solar and Battery projects onto Distribution or Transmission networks (21kV – 400kV). This will include reviewing electrical and operational design of Generation Solutions produced by Project Development and Project Delivery teams to ensure safe, flexible, and operational projects are constructed.

  • You will chair Commissioning Supervisory Panel meetings for Onshore Generation projects to meet DNO, TNO and ESO/TSO Technical, Quality and Safety Standards, and confirm that design and operability factors are included, attending joint outage planning meetings with third parties as required.
  • You will provide advice and guidance to the Project Development team and Project Delivery team with respect to HVDC and HVAC construction and commissioning on quality, risk, programme, Stage-by-Stage Diagrams, Outage Planning, Stage 1 and Stage 2 HV/LV commissioning.
  • Manage the Certification Process required to enter the Balancing Mechanism, other System Services, and Capacity Markets, ensuring an Independent Technical Expert verifies all commissioning works completed.
  • You will approve Contractor Commissioning Plans and Energisation Plans for implementation into a Final Commissioning Report. You will approve handover of the System to Asset Management at the end of commissioning phase and successful completion of the ITP phases.
  • Manage performance testing to provide documentation for declaration of a Commercial Operations Date, Provisional, Interim and Final Acceptance.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Experience in the commissioning of Onshore Generation Systems into a Regulated Energy Market, with a focus on Trading, Safety Controls and Operational Readiness.
  • Experience dealing with Regulated Transmission & Distribution licensees including relevant interfaces, processes and protocols.
  • Experience of Commissioning Systems with discipline focus on Protection and Control, Interface Systems, Earthing solutions, Aux power systems, HVAC systems, Main Circuit apparatus, Telecoms infrastructure (including connections to Remote Control Centers), SCADA systems and approval/Sign-off and witnessing of all commissioning ITPs and ITRs.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the management of multi-discipline and multi-national contractors. You will have a proven track record of leading a team to deliver agreed targets.
  • Electrical Engineering Degree at minimum level of BEng with preference for Chartered Engineer Status or a similar Professional License/Registration.
