Hazardous Waste Assessor

Contract: Full-time, permanent
Working hours: 8.30am-5pm, Mon-Fri – 37.5 hours per week

Do you have a chemistry-related qualification and a background working as a Hazardous Waste Assessor or similar, with a good understanding of the hazardous waste industry? In this busy and interesting job in a small and proactive team at our modern head office in South Oxfordshire, you will use your hazardous waste and chemistry knowledge to provide customer service and sales support to new and existing customers.

What you'll be doing as Hazardous Waste Assessor

Day to day you will carry out technical assessment of waste enquiries, managing and gathering information in a manner that fully satisfies the requirements of pre-acceptance, and characterising and applying accurate classification. Identifying and assigning cost-effective treatment and processing routes for a variety of hazardous waste streams is all part of your remit.

You will, of course, liaise with customers to ensure that sufficient information is obtained to raise quotations, and to enable the generation of the necessary documentation, packing instructions and labels.

The job also involves providing technical advice and assistance.

What you'll need

The ‘musts' are a chemistry-related qualification (e.g. Environmental Sciences) to HNC level or above, Hazardous Waste Assessor or similar experience with a good understanding of the waste industry, and a great ability to understand and interpret analytical data and legislation.
