Hatched Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a Registered Manager Children's Home in the Wiltshire area.

Wiltshire Council prides itself on providing the most vulnerable Children and Young People the very best care and support.

Canon's House is a lifeline for families of children with profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex health and care needs. The home provides overnight short break accommodation for Children and Young People aged 5 to 18.

The home offers opportunities for Children and Young people to enjoy a welcoming, safe and homely experience of overnight care, where their every need is met with love, care and attention whilst providing Parents and carers some 'me time'.

The Team are passionate about child-centered care and support, are dedicated to providing the very best quality of care and are committed to ensuring that every child is cared for with dignity and respect, whilst being afforded opportunities to experience life chances and positive outcomes to support life skills, independence, resilience and self-confidence.

As the Registered Manager, you will lead a team of care professionals to ensure the short overnight break service meets the needs of its families. You will be managing change and advising on policies, responding to emergencies, and overseeing budgeting and financial reporting. You will undertake the role of Designated Safeguard Lead for the home and respond effectively to any and all safeguarding concerns and play a key role within the Children and Young People Disability Team.

Job Family

Manager job family overview: For the lower grades it is the expectation that the role will be to support remote team working and management is for the day to day responsibilities of the team. For the higher grades full accountability of all elements of management of a team of staff including accountability for quality and quantity of work.

This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • The team is competent, effective and motivated
  • Work is effectively delegated and delivered to the required standards
  • Appraisals are undertaken for all staff within the team
  • Effective team meetings and one to one meetings take place regularly

Essential

  • Qualification in social work or directly relevant profession e.g. nursing, teaching OR
  • NVQ Level 4 - Social Care or Caring for Children & Young People
  • Management qualification
  • Significant experience in services for disabled children and their families
  • Minimum of 2 years in post as senior worker/deputy manager, involving all aspects of staff management and supervision and operational practice
  • Knowledge of National Children's Home Regulation 2015
