Mental Health Assistant - Reading Immediate Start - Full-Time Teaching Assistant for children with Social, Emotional and Mental health needs

Calling all aspiring psychologists, therapists, counsellors and teachers.

Academics LTD are working with an outstanding Special Education Needs (SEN) school in Reading seeking a Mental Health Assistant. Position would require working on a 1:1 and group basis with SEN students. This is a full-time long-term role, and the school are looking for the Mental Health Assistant to start ASAP.

The role will entail supporting children from the ages: 3-18, with a range of needs: Autism, ADHD, Down-Syndrome, behavioural challenges, sensory issues, physical disabilities and communication difficulties.

The Mental Health Assistant will also require close collaboration with other SEN practitioners and members of staff, to promote well-being of students, as well as completion of Learning Milestones and academic objectives.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Compassionate and positive mind-set
  • Demonstrated Interest in working with children or in Mental Health

Facilities include: Art/IT/Drama rooms, large outdoor field and an exceptional sports hall.
