Join Our Team as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Are you a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for supporting students with Autism and complex learning difficulties? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to make a significant impact in the lives of our students.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled HLTA to join our team and play a key role in providing tailored support to students with Autism and complex learning needs in a secondary SEN provision with fantastic facilities! As an HLTA specialising in this area, you will work closely with our teaching staff to deliver high-quality education and care that meets the diverse needs of our students.

Lessons are activity based meaning no two days will be the same!

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to students with Autism and Complex learning difficulties, both in and out of the classroom setting.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions designed to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and techniques to support students in managing their emotions and behaviours effectively.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported to reach their full potential.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of our provision for students with autism and complex learning difficulties.

Supporting Communication and Social Skills:

  • Implement strategies and activities to support the development of communication and social skills in students with Autism and complex learning difficulties.
  • Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in social interactions and develop positive relationships with their peers.
  • Use visual supports such as PECs, social stories, and other communication aids to enhance understanding and promote effective communication.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to supporting the diverse needs of students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and implement new approaches and strategies.

This is a full-time role 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
