Our client is on a significant journy of digital transformation and are in the process of building out their internal team moving away from a vendor. They are looking for an experience IT Manager who can be hands on with the technology and manage and build a small team around them.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in developing out the IT Strategy and remaining hands on with techologies. We're looking for someone with strong experience in M365 and ideally some exposure to Dynamics 365 as well.
Hybrid in Gloucester 2 - 3 days per week and paying up to £60,000.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the IT infrastructure, focusing on Microsoft and Windows technologies, including Active Directory, Windows Server, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Lead the design, implementation, and support of virtualisation solutions (e.g., Hyper-V or VMware) and storage solutions.
- Administer and troubleshoot Cisco network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Manage Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive, ensuring smooth operations and user support.
- Provide hands-on technical support to end users, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues across all levels.
- Oversee IT security practices, including the implementation of firewalls, VPNs, and data protection strategies.
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring data integrity and system uptime.
- Manage IT budgets and external vendor relationships to ensure efficient procurement of technology solutions and services.
- Lead and mentor a small IT team, fostering a culture of technical expertise and collaboration.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies, proposing enhancements and solutions that align with business objectives.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in an IT Manager or similar hands-on technical role, with a strong focus on Microsoft and Windows technologies.
- Extensive experience managing Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
- In-depth knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and group policy management.
- Expertise in virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.
- Strong experience in Cisco networking, including configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Solid understanding of IT security best practices, with experience in firewalls, VPNs, and backup solutions.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a technical team.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach to technical issues.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Cisco CCNA, VMware Certified) are highly desirable.
