Software Engineer / Developer (React Native TypeScript Mobile) WFH / London to £85k
Opportunity to work on a "tech for good" social app that connects bird watchers worldwide and helps record vital data about bird populations across the globe. They have recently expanded and launched in the US and now have over one million users with over a billion recorded sightings across the globe.
As a Software Engineer at this growing, tech driven start-up you will be instrumental in creating the mobile app for both iOS and Android devices across the full development lifecycle and will provide subject matter expertise on React Native.
There's a bias towards the mobile app front end development but you'll also work on the Node.js, Postgres backend deploying to GCP, with a range of interesting projects with lots of new feature development around AI recognition of bird song and also bird identification via the camera as well as geo-location and real-time updates.
You'll be a key part of a small team of tech entrepreneurs and enthusiasts creating a platform that connects like-minded people; you'll be able to influence the technical direction and there's huge potential for career progression as the company scales.
Location / WFH:
You can work from home most of the time, with flexible start / finish times (to accommodate school run or other commitments) and will meet up with the team in London once a fortnight / month.
About you:
- You have strong React Native mobile development experience
- You have a good appreciation of UI/UX design (you'll be collaborating with a designer)
- You also have some experience with full stack JavaScript (e.g. Node.js); Typescript, SQLite, Jest - but you can pick these up along the way
- You're collaborative and keen to work in a start-up environment where you can see the impact of your work
- You have a love of the outdoors / nature / conservation - you don't need to be an avid "birder" but have a genuine enthusiasm for the product
