Nursing Home Manager

Job Summary:

The Nursing Home Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of a large nursing home facility with over 80 beds in Wales. This individual must possess substantial managerial experience, a nursing qualification, and in-depth knowledge of CIW regulations. The role demands excellent leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills to ensure the highest standard of care for residents and smooth day-to-day operations of the facility.

Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Team Management:

Provide strong, visionary leadership to all staff members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Recruit, train, and supervise nursing and support staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels at all times.

Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training programs to enhance staff skills.

2. Resident Care:

Oversee the delivery of person-centered care to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Implement and monitor care plans, liaising with healthcare professionals and families to ensure holistic care for each resident.

Stay updated with the latest advancements in geriatric nursing and healthcare practices to improve resident care.

3. Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of CIW regulations and ensure the nursing home's compliance with all legal requirements.

Conduct regular internal audits and quality assurance checks to identify areas of improvement and implement necessary changes.

Prepare for and participate in CIW inspections, addressing any concerns raised and ensuring compliance with regulations.

4. Financial Management:

Prepare and manage the nursing home budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effective practices.

Monitor financial statements, control expenses, and explore opportunities to enhance revenue streams while maintaining quality care.

5. Crisis Management and Turnaround Experience:

Demonstrate the ability to handle crisis situations effectively, making informed decisions to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and staff.

Utilise previous turnaround experience to assess operational challenges, develop strategic plans, and implement changes for positive outcomes.

6. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:

Maintain open and transparent communication channels with residents, their families, and staff members

Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social services, and community organisations to enhance the nursing home's services and reputation.

Address concerns, feedback, and complaints promptly, demonstrating a commitment to resident and family satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN Number.

Minimum 4-5 years of experience in managing nursing homes, preferably with over 50 beds.

Strong knowledge of CIW regulations and experience in ensuring compliance.

Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and implement quality improvement initiatives.

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated crisis management and turnaround experience.
