*Please note: this is a Nationwide, home-based role where travel will be required at key times in the year between NHBC Head offices, training hubs, and external providers.

What you'll be doing

  • Completing initial assessment for learners with SEND needs identified as presenting significant barrier to learning, arranging further diagnostic assessments and or developing individualised support plans as required, providing ongoing learner support
  • Maintaining central SEND register
  • Maintaining learner PPEP with local authority bodies and attending meetings, coordinating plans with tutors as required
  • Ensuring NHBCs staff remain up to date on relevant developments in learner needs support, identifying training and development opportunities and coordinating rollouts
  • Overseeing learner needs curriculum management is kept relevant and regularly reviewed
  • Maintaining accreditation with external bodies, maintaining condition of funding and records for ESFA for learner support needs funding
  • Leading on curriculum for SEND during Ofsted inspections
  • Designated Safeguarding Officer for all provision, deputising to Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Developing links and coordinating relationships with external bodies relevant for signposting and referral points supportive to learner requirements
  • Responsibility for reporting to Governance on SEND provision and requirements, advising Senior Leaders of strategic trends or concerns

The ideal candidate will have

  • Experience with onboarding activities, including completing induction group sessions, advising tutors on support plans and guidance for accommodating common SEND needs.
  • Experience advising and contributing to effective development of accessible teaching and assessment materials for learners with SEND needs.
  • Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding measures and reporting.
  • Extensive experience delivering training, teaching and assessment to learners at a variety of age levels including adults, probing questioning, coaching and action to obtain results.
  • Experience in action planning with learners with significant barriers to learning - including but not limited to social, developmental, pastoral, mental health or physical needs.
  • Background working with both virtual and face to face learning environments.
  • History of working within management teams and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Full confidence with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, video conferencing with Teams, Zoom Visio and Windows operating systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to negotiate/communicate and influence effectively at all levels.
  • Experience maintaining KPI compliance.
  • High levels of literacy and numeracy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a very strong quality driven ethos.

Education and Qualifications

  • Relevant SEND specialised qualification or ability to work towards EG. (Level 4 Supporting the Learning of learners with SEND)
  • IAG level 3 certificate or equivalent
