Our client is a commercial business who assist residential properties and some commercial which have been flood damaged. Once a seasonal business is now a year-round recurrence, even in the summer people are unfortunately flooded out of their homes.

As a Trainee Technician / Labourer you are called in once the client has informed their insurance company and all parties have agreed on what work will be carried out. You would then go in as part of the team to dry out the property.

You will need to possess a good work ethic, be polite and professional as many of the clients are understandably very upset and frustrated at the length of time some insurance claims take to come through, so you need to be able to deal with that.

Information about the role:

  • Labouring - Making good in people's homes which have been flood damaged can be quite physical as you could be removing flooring, plasterboard and furniture out of the way so the property can dry out.
  • Equipment installation - there are various pieces of equipment which would be installed (dehumidifiers & monitors) depending upon the extent of the flood damage which you will be trained to use.
  • PPE - All relevant PPE will be provided but you will need to have your own steel toe capped footwear.
  • Travel - The role will take you all over the country including London so you need to be happy to travel. You will arrive at the Fenstanton site to join your crew in the van(s). You will be paid travel time from getting in the van. Jobs and location details are handed to the crew every morning before they set off.
  • Communication Skills. You need to be polite and professional as you are representing the business at a very difficult time for the client. You must have clear handwriting enabling you to write up notes for Head Office in Fenstanton. The business is currently investigating software using phones and tablets which will make this quicker and more automated.

Hours: 5.55am - 1pm. On average you would be working 40-50 hours a week.

Overtime at time-and-a-half after 50 hours.
