Assistant Accountant
Yeovil, Somerset

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join a national client based in Yeovil on a full-time permanent basis. As the Assistant Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of transactions and key performance indicators (KPIs). You will support the Senior Financial Accountant to ensure all management and group reporting, regulatory, and statutory reporting deadlines are met.
Your main responsibilities in this Assistant Accountant role will include:
- Analysing business costs and expenses, ensuring accurate allocation to the appropriate month and general ledger account.
- Reviewing and posting employee expenses and corporate credit card statements with correct VAT treatment.
- Conducting daily reviews of bank accounts and posting cash receipts.
- Performing monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reporting to the Office of National Statistics.
- Preparing inter-company schedules and liaising with group colleagues to agree on balances.
- Uplifting month-end journals into the accounting system.
- Assisting with annual audit queries.
- Loading purchase ledger payments onto the banking system
Qualifications & Experience required for this Assistant Accountant role:
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
- Part-qualified (PQ) or AAT Level 4 preferred.
- Experience in financial accounting roles
