Commercial Procurement Consultant – Permanent – West Brompton, London – Hybrid Working – £42,232 per annum

- Salary: Band C – £42,232 per annum, rising in increments to £50,385 per annum

We are seeking a Commercial Consultant to join the Metropolitan Police team, team within the Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ). This role is crucial in contributing to the network's CONTEST strategy to reduce the risk from terrorism to the UK. The role is dynamic, innovative, and sensitive, requiring procurement expertise to support the commercial lifecycle within the Covert and Counter Terrorism Policing pillar.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Undertake Category Management to deliver commercial excellence, providing a customer-focused service and becoming a trusted commercial advisor.
- Develop relationships with key and strategic suppliers, driving value for money and risk management excellence across the category.
- Support the overall commercial lifecycle, including strategy and policy development, data analysis, market insight, and procurement processes.
- Work autonomously and independently, liaising with the wider business and partner organisations to support improved commercial outcomes.
- Engage in strategic delivery and management within a category, including development of specifications, demand forecasting, and tracking progress against category plans.
- Provide professional guidance throughout the sourcing process, supporting the evaluation of sourcing models, and drafting commercial recommendations into business cases.
- Manage strategic contracts within relevant categories and ensure effective commercial contract and supplier management.
- Build and maintain key relationships across the organisation and with important external stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A good level of Category Management experience and knowledge.
- Understanding of sourcing and procurement methodologies, Public Sector processes, policy, and governance.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
- Adaptability to change and work effectively in a variety of situations.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload to deliver to deadlines.
- Excellent written & oral communication, interpersonal, time management, and delegation skills.
- Understanding of Procurement Legislation (Public Contract Regulations 2015 and Defence and Security Public Contract Regulations 2011).
- Experience of working effectively with internal stakeholders.
