SEMH Teaching Assistant

The Role

We are seeking compassionate and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other support professionals to provide tailored assistance to students with SEMH needs. Your primary goal will be to support these students in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the educational and social development of students with SEMH needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them with academic work and emotional regulation.
  • Work with teachers to plan and deliver individualized learning programs.
  • Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Encourage and motivate students to engage fully with their education.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and professionals as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH issues and strategies to support students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
