Employment Solicitor (Qualified)

Leicester (Hybrid)

Starting salary: £46,771

Full time. Temporary, fixed term (to cover maternity leave)

The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) is a leading professional body representing more than 25,000 school and college leaders across the UK and we're looking to appoint a new team member.

Hybrid working - a combination of working from home and being in-person at our Leicester office (frequency to be agreed at interview)

ASCL is seeking to appoint a qualified solicitor looking for a unique opportunity to work in-house as part of a dynamic and vibrant team in a hybrid working environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our experienced legal department. Working with a team of solicitors, the successful candidate will report directly to ASCL's Senior Solicitor. The legal department is responsible for providing advice and representation for the organisation and its members, who are senior leaders within the education sector. If successful, you will be able to experience a range of work including (but not limited to) providing advice to members involved in internal processes with their employers, employment tribunal litigation, representing members involved in professional discipline cases before their regulators, inquests and public inquiries. Candidates must be a qualified employment solicitor and will ideally have 1-5 years PQE.

This post is based at ASCL HQ in Leicester with remote working available. The post-holder will be required to work at HQ for a minimum of three-days per week and when requested to do so. Occasional overnight stays may also be required.

This role is paid on a five-point incremental range from £46,771 to £51,430. Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses are also covered.

ASCL is an equal opportunities employer and offers a very generous package of benefits, including 33 days holiday plus bank holidays and a pension scheme to which the association contributes 9%. We encourage applications regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Start date: As soon as possible but dependent on individual circumstances.
