Job Advert: Teaching Assistant (SEND & Behaviour Unit)

Location: Chesterfield
Contract Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
Start Date: October Half-Term (or sooner, if possible)

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to work in a specialised Behaviour and SEND Unit within a school in Chesterfield. This full-time role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and behavioural challenges, ensuring they have a positive and inclusive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused support to students within the SEND and Behaviour Unit, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Assist teachers in implementing strategies and activities tailored to students with SEND and behavioural issues.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where all students can thrive both academically and socially.
  • Support students in managing and improving their behaviour, applying behaviour management techniques where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, external specialists, and parents to ensure students receive holistic and tailored support.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification or higher (essential).
  • Team Teach certification (desirable).
  • Experience working with children with SEND and behavioural issues, ideally in a unit setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with children.
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to supporting inclusive education.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
