Science Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: Mainstream Secondary School, Greenwich

Start Date: Immediately or September 2024

Position: Full-Time, Long-Term

Join our dynamic Science department at a thriving Secondary School in Greenwich as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This exciting opportunity is ideal for those considering a future in education or looking to gain valuable experience in a school environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Science department in delivering high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom management, and student support.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need additional help.
  • Supervise and facilitate engaging science experiments and practical sessions.
  • Help to create and maintain an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing their scientific knowledge and skills.
  • Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of student progress.
  • Undertake administrative tasks related to the Science department.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a Science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.).
  • A passion for science and a desire to share this with young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in any capacity.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to education.

Salary:

  • Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications.
