Exciting Opportunity for an M&A (Senior) Associate in Birmingham

Are you seeking an interesting new challenge working within a fast-growing international company? Then look no further than this exciting role as an M&A (Senior) Associate/In-house Mergers and Acquisitions position based in Birmingham. You will be working for an expanding, successful international technology business who are executing an accelerated by and build strategy.

The Role

As an M&A (Senior)Associate, you will play a key part in helping this ambitious company, identify and execute acquisition opportunities across the UK. You will be involved in all stages of the M&A process, from initial target evaluation through to transaction completion.

Duties will include

  • Reaching out to potential targets and help expand the deal funnel;
  • Build relationships and interact with successful founders and management teams to understand the proposition for thorough investment decisions;
  • Run initial analyses on target information (commercial proposition, financial performance, and value creation opportunities);
  • Build and assess valuation models, due diligence materials and other available information on a potential target (e.g. Information Memorandum, Company Presentation, etc.);
  • Build and discuss financial models, commercial analysis and (internal) presentations with internal, and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to negotiations on larger transactions, and for smaller transactions, key responsible to close a deal
  • Contribute to the development of the team culture (and events) in a newly built and fast-growing team.

About You

Interested? So what to you need to have to be able to join a business that is expanding throughout Europe? You will be one of the first people to be based in the UK, with that in mind, you will need to be a self-starter, and be comfortable reporting to a director remotely and this will also involve some international travel to Europe! In turn you will start to build a team around you which will include origination specialists too.

You will need:

  • Strong academic background, degree educated or equivalent
  • Four + years work experience, mainly in M&A (Transaction Services, Private Equity, Corporate Finance boutiques, Restructuring etc
  • Preferably, end-to-end deal execution experience from writing an investment memo, and building financial analysis from scratch, to (at least) running a due diligence process;
  • Accounting knowledge and experience in analysing company information according to UK standards (balance sheet, P&L, cashflow);
  • Proven experience in building high-quality Excel models (analyses, LBO) and preparing information for internal / external stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills;
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills;
  • Self-starting, entrepreneurial, hands-on, driven, pragmatic with eye for detail, empathetic;
  • Ability to communicate professionally with senior stakeholders and entrepreneurs;
  • Willingness to travel to potential prospects and relevant events in UK, and occasionally to Europe for relevant holding team events and meetings
