Director, Private Equity Origination

Director role within a leading multi-disciplinary advisory group offering responsibility for managing Private Equity relationships and originating work opportunities.

The Company

This leading multi-disciplinary Advisory Group has a national office network with a strong presence in all major UK cities. The Group also has several International offices and continues to expand organically and through acquisition following significant Private Equity Investment. The Group provides a full suite of Financial Advisory services including M&A / Corporate Finance, Transaction Services / FDD, Recovery & Restructuring, Forensic Accounting and specialist Tax Advisory solutions. Clients range from SME and Corporate entites through to ABL's and large Banks and Financial Institutions.

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a seasong and experienced Corporate Finance professional to join the Group at Director level with responsibility for leading and managing origination and relationship management within the Private Equity sector. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of the advisory business working in conjunction with teams across M&A / Corporate Finance, Tax and Transaction Services, as well as Restructuring and Disputes, Investigations and Valuations teams within the mid-market segment.

Leveraging your strong background and your established relationships within the UK Private Equity community, you will be responsible for helping build and develop relationships between Private Equity and the Group's service lines to create mutually beneficial outcomes for both Group and a variety of Private Equity investors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop a comprehensive business strategy for working with Private Equity, aligning it with the overall goals and objectives of the whole Group. Identify target houses, portfolio opportunities, bolt-on opportunities and service differentiators to ensure sustainable revenue growth from this market.
  • Senior Leadership and working within a leading professional services environment: Working directly with Managing Directors across all service lines as well as more directly with the Corporate Finance Team in London. Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture, promoting continuous learning and development.
  • Client Engagement: Develop and nurture relationships with both current and new private equity house relationships, leveraging your network and expertise to promote the various service lines and opportunities for private equity houses from our substantial deal flow. Understand client needs, deliver tailored solutions, and ensure consistently high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Stay abreast of private equity trends, portfolio and market dynamics within the mid-market segment. Use this knowledge to refine and enhance our approach to the market.
  • Collaboration with the Group's PE Owners: Work closely with the PE owners to leverage their resources, expertise, and networks. Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives and identify opportunities for synergy.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership and ownership regarding the progress of existing relationships and development of new ones. Clearly communicate achievements, challenges, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • It is expected that you have already worked with private equity houses, either in a coverage role or in a transactional role but are now looking to move into business development.
  • You would be likely to hold a level of financial qualification and experience of mid-market deal activity in the UK, or be from a business development background with suitable qualifications and existing experience of UK private equity. Your experience will have ideally be gained from working within a top 10 practice.
  • Extensive network and relationships within the Transactions market and broader financial services industry.
  • Strong business acumen and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in business development and financial analysis and research tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and can demonstrate existing knowledge of the UK Private Equity industry.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
  • Experience in working with data and research tools such as Pitchbook, and a track record of identifying transaction opportunities in the private equity industry.
