Outreach tutor - Staines-upon-Thames

Ackerman Pierce work closely with County Councils and Schools to provide one to one tutoring for children waiting for school placements or those unable to attend mainstream school. The children we are looking to support have a range of additional complex needs and so we are seeking experienced SEN Tutors, SEN Teachers / HLTA's.

We are currently recruiting for KS2-KS4 Tutors all across Surrey.

Specifically, we need to provide provision to a student based in Staines-upon-Thames. The student is 7 years old. Support in Math, English and Science is required. Ideally you would have experience working with SEN students as this student has the following diangonis / needs: ASD, social communication difficulties and challenging behaviour. The student would require frequent movement breaks as a way to regulate. Previously, ABA methods have worked well with this young student.

  • Location - Staines-upon-Thames Surrey
  • Position - 1:1 Tutor
  • Start date - 4th September
  • End date - Ongoing - up to the end of the academic year and likely to be extended.
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Hours - 12 hours per week (we can also pair you with additional students if you prefer more hours
  • Rate of pay - from £25 per hour for unqualifued tutors. Up to £35 per hour for Teachers with QTS
  • Term Time Only
  • During School Hours Only

We are looking for candidates who are:-

  • Available during school hours up to 30 hours per week.
  • Experienced in delivering differentiated National Curriculum core subjects.
  • Experience teaching young people with a wide range of complex and challenging needs including SEMH/ASC/MLD/SpLD
  • Exceptional behaviour management strategies.
  • Prepared to work face to face within the community or family home.

Requirements

  • Background teaching in English, Maths or SEN classes
  • QTS status (or equivalent) or unqualified with two years' experience teaching NC core subjects
  • Experience working with SEMH/ASD/EBD/SEMH and associated complex needs.
  • 2 years previous experience working within a UK school.
