Furnished Operations Officer

  • Payrate: £16.40 per hour, weekly pay.
  • Location: Housing and Neighbourhoods Service Area
  • Job Type: Full-time, 3-month initial contract.

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Furnished Operations Officer to join our Place Portfolio team. The role involves working intensively with customers in Furnished Accommodation to support a whole household approach to housing management. The successful candidate will ensure that properties and service delivery meet the required standards and align with housing policy, as well as manage the supply, quality, and cost of furniture and fittings.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Engage with contractors on the supplies framework agreement to provide information and maintain open communication.
  • Enforce and recharge for damage and loss of council assets and property.
  • Utilise information to solve problems and make informed decisions.
  • Manage council assets in furnished properties within a designated patch.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns and ensure system warning codes are updated.
  • Conduct pre-quit inspections, annual tenancy visits, welfare and H&S checks, including P.A.T testing.
  • Schedule and manage the "move on service" for tenants and the furnished tenancy and vacant property process.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and continuously seek opportunities to improve the furnished accommodation service.
  • Monitor and evaluate processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage the planning and organisation of your workload in response to customer needs.
  • Contribute to the development of information systems and manage effective use of these systems.
  • Monitor financial aspects, including the ordering and distribution of furnished goods and services.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Analytical ability with strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience in property management and sound knowledge of audit processes.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records of council-owned stock on IT systems.
  • Experience in contract management and procurement of goods.
  • Ability to apply policy and agreed procedures.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety issues and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to facilitate home visits or site meetings.
  • Competence in dealing with customer complaints and enquiries.
  • Ability to produce audit reports for various audiences.
  • No formal qualifications required, but relevant experience is essential.
