UBT is currently supporting a leading innovator in fire safety solutions, our client is committed to excellence in design and engineering, ensuring that their cutting-edge fire and smoke curtain solutions meet the highest industry standards. Dedicated to protecting lives and property with advanced safety technologies, they are seeking a dynamic Operations Director to join their team.

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Operations Director to join a dynamic team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations from the point of order to receipt of final payments. Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Contract finalisation
  • Survey and design/drawings
  • Manufacture (currently outsourced)
  • Logistics from the EU
  • Installation (currently using subcontractors)
  • HS&E, legal, and compliance
  • PPM and aftersales
  • Operations payments (in and out) and margin

Overview:

This role carries the final responsibility for contracts from signature through to the collection of final payments. You will also manage aftersales and PPM of completed works, aiming to retain customers for life in both construction and user markets.

  • Overall coordination, management, and leadership of multiple live external contracts.
  • Optimising revenue and margin opportunities.
  • Managing the development, assembly, manufacture, and testing of new products.
  • Setting up a new manufacturing unit in 2025.
  • Managing supplier contracts and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Reporting directly to the MD and running your own P&L.
  • Overseeing recruitment, service improvement, and bottom-line performance.

Requirements

Proactive approach: Anticipate and mitigate risks and problems before they arise.

Hands-on leadership: Lead by example and directly engage in operational tasks.

Experience with Tier 1 contractors and manufacturing: Proven track record in a similar role.

Strong management skills: Capable of managing supplier contracts and overseeing key personnel.

Operational excellence: High standards of work, meticulous organisation, and proactive communication.

Technical aptitude: Mechanical and electrical engineering experience is highly desirable.

Project management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Customer-focused: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Attention to detail: Ensuring faultless work and maintaining quality standards.

Willingness to travel: Travel to London and possibly other locations.
