Head of Procurement

Having successfully navigated a period of financial transformation and turnaround, we are now seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to lead the procurement function of the UK business for a global operator. This pivotal role reports directly to the UK CFO and is crucial in developing, implementing, and owning procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks. The Head of Procurement will be instrumental in shaping and executing the procurement strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with the business's corporate goals. The role also involves managing and developing a team of three.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies that align with long-term business objectives.
  • Lead and manage the procurement team, providing direction, support, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with executive-level stakeholders to ensure procurement initiatives support overall business strategy.

Policy, Procedure, and Governance:

  • Develop, implement, and own procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Continuously review and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure procurement activities meet business requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all procurement-related matters within the organisation.

Team Management:

  • Manage and mentor a team of three, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the procurement team.

Performance and Reporting:

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement activities.
  • Provide regular updates to the CFO and other senior stakeholders on procurement performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Supplier Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best value.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms and conditions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior procurement role within the private sector and with good broad generalist indirect procurement knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute procurement strategies that drive business success.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions.
