Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum including the benefits below, depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent / Full-Time (Office Based)

About the Role:

We are looking for a dynamic and operational Transport Manager to join our team. This role includes, Transport, Vehicle & Driver Management and Compliance as well as Health and Safety Management relating to a busy transport department.

As part of the team you will:

  • Oversee the effective operation of the transport function in line with legislation and regulation
  • Ensure that a cost effective (within budget) and efficient service is provided to ensure maximum profit and customer satisfaction including maintaining and reviewing relationships with suppliers
  • Ensure that the company's H&S provision is in line with legislation and regulation, investigation of any accidents/incidents through to resolution and pro-active training
  • Management and execution of the day-to-day plan within the transport operation, working closely with other departments to ensure vehicle utilisation is maximised at all times and service levels are adhered to
  • Schedule, review, update, communicate, implement and train transport policies/procedures, risk assessments safe operating working practices and guidance documents
  • Management of the transport assistants and all LGV/Van drivers
  • This role requires to be available to be "on-call" at times

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience of working in a fast paced transport department, including CPC Qualification, ideally within the waste industry.
  • Up to date knowledge of driver's hours and working time regulations.
  • Experience of managing people including drivers who operate away from our base for a period of time.
  • Excellent planning skills.
  • Strong IT and communication skills will be required.
  • LGV C+E & ADR Licence Holder desirable
  • FORS knowledge and experience
