We have an exciting vacancy for a Network Assistant within the Network Management Team based in our St Mary Cray office on a 12-month secondment covering maternity leave.

I help to keep people safe and warm by...

  • Maintaining a current and thorough knowledge of the mains distribution supply system.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of outputs from SGN's Network Analysis computer models.
  • Undertaking Emergency Network analysis runs in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Developing a detailed understanding of main pipe leakage.
  • Developing mains replacement projects using internal systems, considering factors such as cost, deliverability, and interaction with other activities or business drivers.
  • Preparing and delivering the yearly REPEX programme, which includes scoping projects, preparing project drawings, estimating using Planning Analytics proxy, producing pre-construction CDM packs, and issuing projects.
  • Attending meetings to discuss construction methods, time scales, and any specialist design criteria.
  • Liaising regularly with Strategic Planning Scotland to discuss analysis requirements.
  • Providing an efficient and effective service to operational departments.
  • Processing any design variations on projects.
  • Supporting mains reinforcement and condition workloads as needed.
  • Supporting other Network Distribution workloads as needed.
  • Providing reports and MI on these workloads.

What you'll need

We're looking for someone with a good business knowledge and understanding of the gas industry, as well as a thorough knowledge of SGN systems and processes. This opportunity would suit a motivated and innovative individual, who enjoys flexibility as well as leading and supporting new technology, process change and different ways of working.

We're also looking for:

  • Ability to respond and adapt quickly to change; and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment as part of a wider team.
  • Ability to learn and develop new skills quickly with good attention to detail.
  • Previous GIS and/or Synergi experience preferred.
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
