Buyer

Successful manufacturing business require a Buyer. Applicants need strategic and operational procurement experience gained in a manufacturing or engineering environment, have an appreciation of end-to-end supply chain considerations and inventory management skills.

The Buyer will be responsioble for the procurement of direct raw materials and components to support production schedules. Identifying material and component needs and finding suppliers who can support these requirements will be the key focus of the role - from negotiations to the arrangement of deliveries. The role offers an exciting blend of strategic and operational tasks. The Buyer will join a team of Buyers and Senior Buyers reporting to a Procurement Manager.

Specific duties of the Buyer include:

  • Supply market intelligence and supplier selection activities
  • Negotiation with new and existing suppliers
  • Placing purchase orders in response to MRP demand signals
  • Supplier management and supplier review activities
  • Collaboration with technical and engineering colleagues in regards to supplier non-conformance and engineering change notes
  • Arrange and coordinate deliveries with suppliers and 3PLs

Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Procurement or Purchasing experience, ideally as a Buyer or Senior Buyer
  • Experience in the procurement of direct raw materials used in manufacturing would be advantageous
  • Proven track record in supplier negotiations
  • Experience with MRP/ERP system, and/or analytical with strong MS Excel skills
  • Positive, pro-active, self-starter
  • Comfortable with a site-based role, 5 days per week in Havant
