Head of Finance

We are partnering with a charitable organisation dedicated to providing high-quality care for the elderly, disabled, and terminally ill across 12 care homes in England, Scotland, and Wales to find a motivated Head of Finance. In addition to the care services, it also offers nursery school education and manage retirement villages in various locations. The mission is to create environments that promote the health and wellbeing of the service users and to foster a supportive and valued workplace for staff.

Role Overview:
The Head of Finance to lead and manage all aspects of our financial operations. This is a pivotal role with a large transformation element, where you will ensure the financial health and sustainability of our organisation and its subsidiaries. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, leading on operational planning, and providing a proactive finance service to staff and management across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Reporting: Lead the month-end closure processes, manage balance sheet accounting, and produce timely management accounts and financial reports for senior management and the Board.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring effective financial planning.
  • Policy & Compliance: Ensure all financial procedures, policies, and systems are up-to-date and fit-for-purpose, maintaining strong financial controls.
  • Governance: Manage risk, governance, and regulatory matters, including reporting to relevant external bodies.
  • Automation & Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate and improve financial systems and processes, enhancing efficiency and accuracy across the organisation.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and manage the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other senior managers to enhance financial literacy across departments, empowering them to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

About You:

Qualifications:

  • CCAB accounting qualification with extensive experience in managing complex finance operations.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience at a senior level in financial management.
  • Strong financial accounting background with expertise in producing monthly management accounts.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing finance teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse audiences.
  • High integrity and a strong commitment to good governance.
