High Voltage Technician

We are currently recruiting for a High Voltage Technician to join our clean and waste team, Due to the nature of this role you can be based at a number of our sites in the Homes counties and Thames Valley area depending on your location as you are required to travel in this role.

Your role as the Successful candidate will be to deliver maintenance to High Voltage and Primary Low Voltage equipment and associated assets on Water/Wastewater sites. As well as Organise work activities and resources in the delivery of maintenance activities.

In this role, you will also Inspect and test HV equipment and accurately complete condition reports. Report unsafe conditions and take immediate action as appropriate in a timely and effective manner with minimum supervision.

The right person for this role must have a Strong Understanding of the significance of HV/LV electrical assets and prioritise maintenance requirements accordingly.

A Van, PPE and Tools will be provided.

What you'll be doing as the High Voltage Technician

  • To carry out planned and preventative breakdown maintenance. Initiate Follow-Up or Defect maintenance activity.
  • Maintain company assets, tools and equipment in a good, safe and useable state at all times. Efficient use of consumables and other materials.
  • To be responsible for the timely ordering of spares required.
  • Undertake appropriate training and Authorisation under the TW Safety Rules as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP). Work towards SAP status.
  • Care of Company Van by vehicle use policy.
  • Produce and maintain accurate equipment reports and take or advise on corrective action. Understand and implement the requirements of BS7671. (IEE Wiring Regulations)
  • Work by safe systems of work, ensuring the safety of self and working party at all times. Prompt reporting of H & S issues and concerns. Minimise accidents.
  • Maintenance activities completed within the agreed timescale, by maintenance plan and task specifications.

What should you bring to the role?

  • A technician with formal electrical trade qualifications and experience in a relevant industrial engineering environment, including maintenance and fault finding.
  • Applicants with formal training in electrical technology or craft training will also be considered.
  • Good working knowledge of general health and safety requirements and electrical safety procedures.
  • You will possess good interpersonal and communication skills, and be numerate and literate.
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision is essential.
  • Due to the nature of this role, a valid UK driving licence is essential.
