HR Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for an HR Manager to join the head office team based in London. The role is primarily focused on partnering with the regional management and store management team, supporting and advising on a broad range of hr issues including operational regional support, embed company initiatives and deliver HR excellence in the areas of employee relations, recruitment and retention, developing capability and succession planning. If you have an interest in L&D there is a great opportunity to grow the role further by reviewing and developing content for our e-learning platform, ensuring all course content is evaluated and updated on a regular basis.

Key Aspect of the role will include:

Employee Relations

  • Maintain regular contact and support with your Regional Managers (RMs) identifying regional priorities and action plans.
  • Provide advice to RMs and store management on all employee relations matters including disciplinary, performance management, grievance, harassment and long-term absence cases. Manage all cases in line with business policies and current legislation
  • Attend hearings for sensitive and management-related cases as required to resolve issues/disputes.
  • Complete weekly/ monthly reports for all cases which are actively managed, logged on the hr case management system and updated regularly. Ensure that the Head of HR is informed of any high-risk/high-profile cases.

Generalist HR

  • Oversee the recruitment processes for all new stores, including support with interviews and shortlisting as appropriate.
  • Support managers with the online recruitment process as required, in particular Christmas seasonal recruitment
  • Support the closure or re-siting of stores in line with the Property Review strategy ensuring legal compliance in terms of any potential redundancy consultation
  • Fully support the annual Performance Review process and drive completion rates for colleagues and management appraisals in designated regions
  • Identify and monitor poor performance, providing support to relevant managers
  • Produce store data reports on absence, turnover, Performance Reviews, engagement survey etc.
  • Produce contracts of employment for all new store management appointments

Learning and Development

  • Deliver HR based presentations for store management workshops as part of our apprenticeship programme.
  • Design challenging, inspiring and innovative L&D solutions for all new retail initiatives to meet the business strategy
  • Review and develop our e-learning platform
  • Ensure all course content is evaluated and regularly updated to support the needs of the business

knowledge, skills and experience

  • At least 3 years experience of managing a wide range of complex employee relations issues preferably within a retail environment
  • Demonstrable experience of building relationships with senior managers coupled with an ability to influence at all levels
  • Strong knowledge of employment law
  • Keen interest in learning and development and e-learning systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Advanced Excel skills desirable
  • CIPD qualification desirable
