Robert Half is recruiting an experienced Interim Chief Information Officer for a London-based higher education organisation. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the potential for permanent placement.

Role:

The Interim Chief Information Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, development, and maintenance of the institution's information services. This includes aligning technology strategies with the institution's goals, managing IT and library services, and leading major projects that drive technological advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service Management - Lead the technology function team to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services, and foster strong relationships with senior management, academic leaders, and external partners.

  • Strategy Development and Delivery - Develop and implement a strategic vision for the use of technology across the institution to enhance research, education, and administration.

  • Project and Change Leadership - Oversee major IT and business change projects, ensuring they align with institutional goals and provide tangible benefits.

  • Overview -

  • Responsible for critical systems supporting thousands of students, staff, and applicants.

  • Manages a substantial budget and oversees significant capital projects.

  • Ensures the institution's IT infrastructure is secure, reliable, and aligned with strategic goals.

Profile:

The successful candidate for the position of Interim Chief Information Officer should have the following:

  • Strong understanding of IT management, business processes, and the higher education sector.
  • Proven experience in leading complex projects and managing large teams as a Chief Information Officer.
  • Ability to develop strategic plans and drive innovation in technology and information services.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant educational background, with a preference for advanced degrees.
