The main focus of the role as a Business Development Executive (Social Housing), will be to secure retrofit contracts with social housing framework members, leveraging SHDF wave 3 guidance, build and nurture relationships with asset managers and key staff within social housing organisations, and develop market opportunities through strategic meetings, networking, and other channels.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Identify and pursue heat pump installation contracts within social housing projects.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with housing associations, local authorities, and contractors to drive business growth and achieve revenue targets.
  • Develop and submit compelling proposals, tenders, and bids, aligning with client needs and company capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders - including project managers and engineers - to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
  • Represent Plug Me In at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to enhance visibility and foster partnerships within the social housing community.
  • Establish processes and procedures for business development best practices.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Follow all relevant policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Minimize environmental impact through appropriate actions.
  • Ensure health and safety for oneself and others.
  • Promote SHE awareness and safe working practices.
  • Handle all information confidentially (GDPR compliance).
  • Report any potential business risks to management.

Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of the social housing sector, including regulatory frameworks, funding mechanisms (SHDF, ECO4, HUG2, etc.), and industry best practices is essential.
  • Proven track record in business development, especially in securing contracts for social housing retrofit projects.
  • Strong network within the social housing community, including housing associations, local authorities, and contractors.
  • Proven sales growth experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Business acumen and project management skills

  • Proven eligibility to work in the UK
  • Suitable references covering the previous 5 years
  • Willingness to travel and work in other locations as required
