We are looking for an Assistant Director of Finance to join our team to play a key role in managing the financial operations of the company.

Key responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Finance include...

  • You will assist the Group Director of Finance in providing a reliable and efficient financial service to uphold the strategic business objectives of the Group.
  • To build and manage effective business partnering relationships with key stakeholders at Director and Heads of Service/Assistant Directors level across the Group. Providing timely, accurate and comprehensive financial analysis and business insight to support decision making
  • Lead and supervise a team of senior finance professionals to ensure that the team is motivated, achieves high performance, and delivers results. Coordinate the finance activities to provide professional and value added financial information, including but not limited to management accounts, financial accounts, KPI and performance analysis, and control reviews.
  • To lead the rent accounting and service charge finance teams to fulfil THG's legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring the provision of information to customers in a relevant and timely way.
  • To support the Corporate Plan and strategies with financial support/analysis.
  • Oversee financial planning/ budgeting for THG, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures, and identifying any financial risks/ issues.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to drive business improvements, financial efficiency, identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation, and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports, statements, and presentations for senior management, Boards/ committees, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring compliance with auditing standards and addressing any audit findings or recommendations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in finance and housing management, and deliver continuous improvement around data/system automation within the finance team.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has...

  • Relevant professional Accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and CPD
  • Significant experience in a senior finance role, ideally within the housing sector or a similar industry
  • Experience of rent and service charge setting
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Sound knowledge of financial regulations and compliance
  • Experience with financial systems and software
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team-oriented environment

  • Salary of £73,975 per annum
  • 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years' service) + bank holidays
  • Hybrid working, 2 days a week in our Blackburn office (some requirement to travel to other THG offices)
