The Opportunity:

As a seasoned

Stress Engineer

or

Stress Analyst

, you will embrace leading and managing a team of

Stress Analysts

within an exciting mechanical engineering environment. With a particularly exciting product within the automotive and defence sector, your role will be to validate equipment and products throughout their product lifecycle in accordance with contracted requirements and to influence their design in a timely manner to ensure they are more generally fit for purpose.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Stress Analysis team and all associated project data, report writing and approval.
  • Holding and documenting timely analysis reviews and providing input to wider project reviews and scheduling of relevant resources.
  • Ensure compliance with and the application of relevant analysis standards and codes of practice.
  • Prepare Finite Element Analysis models from supplied CAD.
  • Understand, design and implement loads and boundary conditions.
  • Post process analysis results and interpret them in relation to the needs of the project.
  • Conceive design improvements and present these to the customer.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of business processes and systems

Skills Required

:

  • Managing staff within a Stress Engineering department.
  • Experience of the design and function of automotive systems, including vehicle testing using data logging and other instrumentation.
  • Structural analysis using first principles and FEA.
  • Able to produce system/product verification plans and procedures to allow detailed integration and verification testing of the developed system/product.
  • Ideally you will offer experience of PDM, the design and function of automotive systems, vehicle testing using data logging and other instrumentation.
  • Use of ERP and MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of drawing standards including BS 8888, geometrical tolerancing, welding specification etc.
  • 3D Cad skills preferably with SolidWorks, and proficient in the use of MS Project and Pamcrash Motions.
