Tempest is collaborating with a large and dynamic trust in Merton, dedicated to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and ASD needs who demonstrate challenging behaviour. The trust's mission is to provide a nurturing and supportive environment where every student can thrive.

Role Overview:
We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the trust. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the students' educational and personal development. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH and ASD needs
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support students in developing social and emotional skills
  • Monitor and record student progress
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff to ensure the best outcomes for students

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner
  • A commitment to fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development (desirable but not essential)
