The ideal candidate will have previous buying or purchasing / procurement experience or experience within a sales or customer service environment, but this is not essential as training can be provided for the right candidate.
SALARY: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum + Benefits

Working as the Assistant Buyer / Purchasing Administrator you will have a varied role involving sourcing and purchasing materials, monitoring market trends, identifying cost-saving opportunities and maintaining the company's Approved Supplier List.
As the Assistant Buyer / Purchasing Administrator you will have strong negotiation skills and will be comfortable speaking with internal staff and external suppliers at all levels. Good customer service skills or previous sales experience would be highly beneficial.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Assistant Buyer / Purchasing Administrator will include:
- Responding to Site communications (email and calls) regarding products/services required in a time efficient manner
- Ensuring all purchased items meet contract schedules and working with the team to determine action for overdue materials
- Source and purchase materials required
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers
- Monitor market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with project managers to understand material requirements and specifications
- Support the development of the sustainability and social impact agenda, proactively engaging the supply chain for innovations and new sustainable products or technologies and keeping detailed reports on our sustainable outputs i.e. fuel usage, spend on timber, etc.
- Working with procurement team members and project teams to review contract progress and address associated issues immediately
- Maintenance and review of company Approved Supplier List
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in a Buying / Purchasing / Procurement role or environment would be preferred, but is not essential
- Good customer service skills or previous sales experience would be highly beneficial
- Good communication skills
- Confident telephone manner
- Strong negotiation skills
- Competent with IT including Microsoft Excel
- Experience within civil engineering / construction industry beneficial
