Junior Project Manager

Posted by Cathcart Technology.

Junior Software Project Manager required for a well-known and expanding Digital Transformation consultancy in Glasgow. This is a role for a Junior Project Manager who is comfortable working across multiple software projects and clients at once and who will work closely with both the software development team and the clients.

The company:

They are a Digital Consultancy based in Glasgow with around 300 staff, and are looking to grow even more. They continue to be very busy and feel lucky to have a diverse and large portfolio of clients - from Finance to Public Sector to FMCG. They continue to win lots of work that comes off the back of several new client wins over the last 12 months, with the additional retained and large-scale client base.

They have a great office in Glasgow city centre and they would ideally have someone on a hybrid approach, two days a week. A lot of their current work is Digital change for a variety of clients and this is where the need comes to hire two new Project Manager's.

The role:

The organisation has a number of software clients and the development team are building several proper applications. You will be working closely alongside the Web Dev team and having an understanding in this technical area would be hugely beneficial. This role would be best suited to a Junior Project Manager from a Software background, ideally from an agency or digital consultancy. The key for this role is to work closely with both the clients and the development team and to understand their requirements.

Initially, you will join as the bridge between the Account Management and the Development teams, however eventually you will be dealing directly with the clients. You will need to be able to speak at a fairly technical level in order to understand their software requirements and pass this back to the Developers. This isn't a highly technical role but having the ability to 'chat' about Web Development would be perfect. Currently, there is Jira software in place and having experience of this or a similar (Confluence, Trello etc) technology would be beneficial.

Key Skills:

  • * Experience of working as a Junior PM, Project Coordinator, PMO in a software environment
  • * Experience with tooling such as Jira, Confluence, Figma, Trello, Monday.com etc
  • * Ability to gather requirements, producing briefs, writing user stories and acceptance criteria
  • * Engage with both clients and Account Manager's to brief, plan, and deliver work
  • * Strong stakeholder management skills in a fast-paced environment

This is a fast-paced environment and you will learn a lot quickly. This is a position that can offer natural career progression within the company, whilst working for a people orientated business. If you are interested in this role, please apply or call Hamish at Cathcart Technology for a chat.
