Accountant

This is an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join a global business.

This role reports into the Finance Director, and is a hybrid role - 4x days in the office in Hammersmith. Ideally you will have experience within the Civil Engineering/construction Industry.

Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting transactions
  • Publish financial statements in time
  • Handle monthly and annual closings
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensure timely bank payments
  • Compute taxes and prepare tax returns
  • Create and submit government reports
  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  • Report on the company's financial health and liquidity
  • Audit financial transactions and documents
  • Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
  • Comply with financial policies and regulations
  • Maintain records, including contracts and change orders
  • Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of accounts
  • Review and approve supplier invoices
  • Review and approve time sheets for works
  • Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to projectsReview account totals related to projects assets and expenses
  • Investigate variances and submit variance reports to management
  • Create or approve all billings to customers
  • Investigate all expenses not billed to customers
  • Respond to requests for more detail from customers
  • Close out project accounts upon projects completion
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required

Ideal Accountant Skills:

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Commutable distance to Hammersmith on a regular basis
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software like Sage and Xero is a plus.
  • Work experience as an Accountant
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Hands-on experience with SAP ERP software is a plus.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Experience with general ledger functions
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
