Reed Further Education are a leading recruitment agency working with colleges, prisons, universities, and training providers across the UK. We are looking for someone who has experience of working with young people and / or adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Full Time

Up to £46,500 per annum (plus teachers' pension)

Effectively manage all support and inclusion services, and staff, within the YOI to ensure the right support is in place for learners to receive the appropriate and most effective methods of support intervention. In close liaison with other departments and staff, ensure that the special educational needs and disabilities of all learners are identified, assessed and met. Ensure that comprehensive individual learner Educational Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans) are in place, regularly updated and monitored as learners' progress through education and on in to mainstream education, training or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective day to day planning and management of Inclusivity staff (including sub-contract workers where appropriate), deploying staff in line with strategy that engages with all learners with the aim of integration, inclusion and maximising their potential
  • Provide appropriate specialist support and training for all education staff and appropriate YOI staff working within the establishment
  • Ensure the safeguarding of learners while in custody, including training of staff and maintaining accurate records

Requirements:

  • UK recognised Teaching Qualification
  • Degree or equivalent
  • SEND Qualification at Level 4 or above
  • Implementing strategy and policy relating to special educational needs
  • Recording / using data to monitor, evaluate and influence course development and to provide relevant learner support
  • Working effectively with disadvantaged learners some of whom may present with a range of challenging behaviour
  • Successful team building
