Working closely with local authorities, education institutes and local employers, our unique concept of a 'training workplace' bridges the gap between education and employment.

We're seeking Teaching Assistants to join us on a flexible basis to support our Alternative Provision (AP) service, engaging with and developing students who are at risk of dropping out or being permanently excluded from education before they turn 18.

Based in Swindon, this is a flexible, part-time position offering £12-13 per hour depending on experience, with hours likely to be inside education hours and term time only.

In the role of Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating practical youth development sessions alongside the Programme Lead on a 1:1 basis and small groups as needed.
  • Assisting students with their youth enterprise activities, such as content creation, social media marketing, producing crafted good and assisting sales activities.
  • Managing and supporting student behaviour with a clear and calm approach, utilising various techniques for co-regulation.
  • Meeting the pastoral and safeguarding needs of students with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Updating student development notes and ensuring continuous support.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • A minimum of two years' experience working with young people.
  • Expertise in working with young people who have additional learning or SEMH needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in working with changing circumstances.
  • A proactive and creative approach to engage students in various activities.

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant for The Platform Project, you'll work as part of a small team who support a maximum of 12 students at any one time. Blending elements of the traditional (SEN) Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Youth Mentor and Trainer roles, you'll be patient, resilient, flexible and student focused and play an essential role in making a big impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.
