Residential Research Analyst

Role Overview

Within the Residential Research team, our work continues to be in high demand and we have an opportunity for a graduate or someone in the early stages of their career to join the team. This is a permanent role based in our central London HQ.

We provide research and consultancy on residential property to both internal and external clients. This involves using data analysis to help our clients formulate strategy and make decisions.

Our clients come from across the whole spectrum of UK residential property. They include some of the largest developers, investors and housing associations in the country, as well as national and local government.

We also write market leading research publications. These provide our clients with market intelligence and insightful analysis. They often feature in national newspapers, such as the Financial Times, The Times and The Telegraph and on broadcast media.

Your role will be to help prepare analysis and reports to answer a broad range of questions on residential development, planning, investment and sales, for internal and external clients

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of analysis and reports for clients aimed at answering a wide range of questions relating to residential development, planning and investment.
  • Managing, maintaining and interrogating big data to provide new insights, including both publicly available and proprietary data.
  • Analysing published data and Savills in-house market intelligence, gathered through our network of UK offices.
  • Collaborating with research colleagues to help shape the house view on key market trends and drivers.
  • Presenting analysis and commentary to the wider research team and eventually our clients.
  • Public speaking can become a significant part of the role, but is not essential.
  • You should be a committed team player and be prepared to get involved in a variety of projects and activities within the research team.

Key Skills

  • Degree qualified, with an aptitude for quantitative techniques, an analytical approach to tackling questions and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience at university level working with large datasets and technical software is advantageous but not essential.
  • An interest in drawing conclusions from the analysis of complex data and an ability to articulate these in an accessible format. An ability to draw key themes from a variety of sources including primary data analysis and reports produced by others in the industry or academia, and construct an argument.
  • Excellent written English and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey your findings to others in a professional, logical and engaging way.
  • Strong IT & Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience in writing code such as SQL, Python, R or VBA would be an advantage, although training will be provided. A desire to learn how to use other packages, such as GIS mapping or MatLab.
  • An interest in news, current affairs and the residential property market is an advantage.
  • Good time management with the ability to prioritise tasks and work on a diverse range of ongoing projects.
  • Personal skills suited to working with a professional team environment as well as for a range of clients both within and outside of the Savills business.
