Band 7 Clinical Services Manager

We are seeking an experienced senior nurse to co-manage the expansion of Clinical Services, which includes In-House, Community, and Play Services. This role involves supporting the leadership, management, development, and transformation of Clinical Services at a children's hospice.

The Clinical Services Team provides care for children staying at the facility, as well as those visiting for events and daycare. Central to our care model is offering families a range of choices, with the team also supporting children in their homes and other community settings.

The post holder will be pivotal in developing the service and leading the operational delivery of family-centred care, ensuring the highest possible standards of care for referred babies, children, young people, and their families.

You will assist the team in delivering clinical and holistic care to babies, children, and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, along with support for their families.

The role is based in a new, purpose-built facility set in a nature reserve. The environment is one of laughter, play, and meaningful connection, with a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

With a team of talented individuals who share our commitment to improving the lives of seriously unwell children and their families, we are transforming Paediatric Palliative Care in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Registered Sick Children's Nurse or Registered Nurse (Child Branch). (A & PEC)

2. BSc level study or equivalent experience. (A & PEC)

3. Formal management, leadership training or equivalent experience.

4. Teaching qualification e.g. Mentorship, SSSA or equivalent.

5. Experience in supporting students on placement as a practice supervisor or practice assessor.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

1. Knowledge of NMC Quality Assurance processes relating to education and NMC fitness to practice processes. (A & I)

2. Significant relevant post-qualification experience at staff nurse band 6 and above level. (A)

3. A minimum of three year's experience of children with life limiting, life threatening or complex medical needs. (A)

4. Experience in recruitment, selection and retention. (A)

5. Experience of challenging poor practice. (A & I)

6. Previous team nursing/management experience (A & I)

7. Ability to plan and deliver clinical training opportunities to registered and non-registered colleagues (A & I)

8. Able to assess, develop, implement, deliver and evaluate programmes of care across the range of the hospice setting - in house and community. (A & I)

9. Competent IT skills e.g. Microsoft packages, e-mail, electronic patient records and electronic rostering. (A)

10. Experience of supporting BCYP at end of life and care after death including symptom management

11. Involvement in facilitating simulation for teaching of clinical skills. (A)

12. Previous experience working with children with tracheostomies and/or requiring long term ventilation. (A)

13. Experience with intravenous and subcutaneous infusion therapies (A)
